Aurora Vega And Other Easter Winners To Headline Goffs Punchestown Sale

Three of last Easter weekend's notable racecourse winners are among the early entries for the Goffs Punchestown Sale, which takes place after racing next Thursday 1 May.

These are headed by the Grade 1 winning Aurora Vega, winner of last Sunday's Grade 1 Honeysuckle Mares Novice Hurdle (pictured). By champion sire Walk In The Park and out of one of the all-time great race mares Quevega, Aurora Vega can go in search of further racecourse success before letting her flawless qualifications take their place at the head of any breeder's broodmare band

The winners of two prestigious Easter Monday bumpers will also be offered for sale. At Fairyhouse, Robert Tyner's I'm Slippy was the game winner of the competitive Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Bumper. In the colours of Brendan Keogh, the son of Maxios accounted for 16 rivals and looks an exciting hurdle prospect for next season.

At Cork, Clay Pigeons followed up his win in a December Boulta four-year-old maiden with a decisive victory in the Point-to-Point Bumper at Cork in the colours of Paul Byrne who sold subsequent Grand National winner Noble Yeats as well as subsequent Grade 1 performer and Cesarewitch winner The Shunter.

Several winning point-to-pointers are already entered while a limited number of places will be available for horses that deliver eye-catching performances this weekend.

The catalogue for the sale will be released on Monday and all entries will be vetted on Wednesday at Goffs where they can be viewed on Thursday morning ahead of being available for inspection throughout racing on Thursday at Punchestown.
