Start 1st race at 16.45
After-Work-Race Day on Friday with Open Air Party into the sunset
On Friday, 8 September, from 16:00 (start of 1st race: 16:45) the first After-Work-Racing Day of the year will take place at the Cologne racecourse. The conditions for a summery after-work racing day in Weidenpescher Park could not be better, so that the temperatures to be expected should also ensure a correspondingly cosy atmosphere around Cologne's most beautiful beer garden at the Cologne racecourse. Six races are on the menu for Friday evening.
Tickets (from 10.50 euros) are available in the kölngalopp ticket shop at tickets.koeln-galopp.de or in the kölngalopp app with a price saving of 2 euros compared to the box office and a VRS ticket for the journey to and from the racecourse included. The box office
will be open from 15:00 hrs. As a little extra, every ticket buyer (18 years and over) will also receive a 2 euro betting chip at the entrances.
After-work ticket with the stars
The first start is at 4:45 pm. In the first half of the programme, among others, the youngest year group will present itself. With Wintertraum and Arrivederci, the two Cologne trainers Waldemar Hickst and Peter Schiergen will then also be involved with winning prospects. Both Weidenpesch stables will also be competing with good stable form behind them and later on they will have promising candidates at the start in a medium level with Go Fast and Nabora. Just last weekend, jockey René Piechulek and trainer Dr. Andreas Bolte won the Championships of the Great Gallop Week in Iffezheim, Baden. At the Feierabend race day at the Cologne racecourse, both will once again take part in the sporting action. And with jockey Michael Cadeddu, an old acquaintance celebrates his comeback. The Italian is back in the saddle for the first time after a two-month injury break. Germany's best jockey of all times, Andrasch Starke, will also be in the saddle three times. With Paveier, Saba Storm and Ready to Rumble, Starke, who clearly leads the field with 53 annual victories, will try to further extend his top position in the German jockey rankings. There will also be a Cologne accent in the 3rd round of the VERO Amateur Cup with the oft-tried gelding Ziro (Nina Baltromei). Sarah Weiß trains the veteran on the Cologne home track. By the way, trainer John Hillis from Munich has the longest journey this afternoon. He will be competing in the amateur race with Ballindinas and in the Equalisation III with Neriano.
After Race Open Air Party with DJ from 6:30 p.m. onwards
After the race day is before the party! The After Race Open Air Party will start at 6:30 pm between the two grandstands. There, all visitors can end the evening in a cosy atmosphere with live music from the DJ, a cold drink and enjoy the sunset.
Culinary novelties around the race day
On Friday there will be a culinary novelty at the racecourse for the first time: Gyros Pita in authentic Greek style, prepared directly in the cast iron pan. Also irresistible American BBQ cheese burgers and a juicy American steak sandwich with chimichurri, freshly prepared on an Ofyr fire plate. The experienced grill masters use only regional ingredients.
Betting opportunity of the day: four-way bet with a 10,000 EUR guarantee
All those interested in betting will also have an interesting opportunity on Friday. In the four-way bet of the day, Prize of Raiffeisen Waren-Zentrale Rhein-Main AG (5th race, start: 6:45 p.m.), 10,000 euros are guaranteed to be paid out.
