NH Sale: 4 new wild cards added to the catalogue
Four new lots have been added to the 2024 Auctav NH Sale: Clotilda (Lot 101B), a 3-year-old filly who recently placed 3rd over the hurdles at Compiègne, the two Prix Cadoudal placers at Auteuil, Majestika (Lot 133B), a Masterstroke filly, and the gelding Catch On Me (Lot 128B) by Martinborough, along with Lunatique d'Ainay (Lot 137B). Discover these exciting wild cards for the upcoming Auctav NH Sale on September 20th.
Prix Cadoudal Runners Set for the Sales Ring
On September 14th, Auteuil hosted the 3500m Prix Cadoudal hurdle race, won by Just Ennemi for the well-known Auctav client, David Maxwell, who also purchased last year's top-priced lot, All In You. Behind Just Ennemi were two horses fighting closely for the placings. Majestika (Masterstroke) secured second place ahead of Catch On Me (Martinborough), who made a strong late run.
Trained by Gabriel Leenders, Majestika is sired by Masterstroke, a stallion whose offspring continue to make waves. Her dam, Epala (Epalo), is a winner herself, and a sister to black-type Coastalina, from the black-type family of Princesse Pierji.
Gabriel Leenders, trainer: "She's a quality filly, capable of repeating her efforts. Physically, Majestika has plenty of room to mature, especially for chasing. She holds great potential on the course."
Catch On Me has proven that stallion Martinborough is a strong sire for jumping horses. If purchasing the sire (Lot 97B) isn't feasible, you can opt for this gelding, a flat race winner who also placed on his Auteuil debut. Out of the precocious Nan's Catch, 2nd in the Prix Finot (L), Catch On Me is the brother of two black-type performers: Catch One (Smadoun), Group 3 placed in France, and Cardigan Bay (Turtle Bowl), a Listed performer in the UK. His family also includes the likes of Othermix, Oh Crick, Cristal Bonus, and Diamond Charm.
Jean-Philippe Dubois, trainer: "He ran very well at Auteuil. I believe the race speaks for itself: he's improving, and we've been patient in his training. He has plenty of potential, and jockey Clément Lefebvre really likes him."
Clotilda finds herself in chase
By Clovis du Berlais, whose offspring Hesperia and Sweet David have shone this September, Clotilda has shown significant improvement since switching from hurdles to steeplechase. Her record in chase speaks for itself: three starts, three podium finishes at Clairefontaine and Compiègne.
Patricia Butel, trainer: "She's a classy filly who always gives her all. Physically, she transformed between spring and summer. She's very brave and progressed when she started steeplechasing. She nearly won her second race in chase, and the margin wasn't wide at the finish. She's an excellent jumper in both disciplines."
Clotilda's dam, Goldflake (Turgeon), has already produced three winners, and Clotilda is on track to be the fourth. This maternal line consistently produces winners across generations.
Lunatique d'Ainay on the Rise
Sired by the prominent Cocoriko and out of a Sholokhov mare, Lunatique d'Ainay finished second to Bahyadame, a highly regarded debutant at Auteuil. Her debut at Dieppe was promising, and this 3-year-old French Chaser filly hails from a strong family that includes Harmonie d'Ainay (Masterstroke), who has run well in France, and Elixir d'Ainay, Group 1 placed in Ireland.
Jérôme Delaunay, trainer: "I'm very pleased with her debut. She showed professionalism over the jumps despite her lack of experience. She's got potential. Lunatique d'Ainay has been trained in chase, but she really has a strong aptitude over hurdles."
